Is there a cost to participate in Meet St. Louis?
No, all of the excursions are offered free of charge. Students will be provided with transportation, lunch, snacks, and any necessary materials needed for participation. The only thing that students may need, which is noted in some excursion descriptions, is a Washington University UPass that can be acquired free of charge upon move-in.
Do I have to apply to the excursion I'd like to do?
Students will sign up on a first come, first serve basis. There is no application process to participate in an excursion. However, space is limited, so if there is a program that you are excited about, you should plan on signing up in Bear's Den on the first day that sign-ups are open to first year students.
What is the password for access to the sign up page?
The password to access each sign up page is "engage". If you continue to have issues, contact the Meet St. Louis Coordinator at MeetStLouis@wustl.edu.
Can I participate in more than one program?
All Meet St. Louis excursion occur on the same day, so you cannot participate in more than one excursion. That being said, there will be numerous opportunities after your Meet St. Louis experience to engage with faculty members and Gephardt Institute programs, so be sure to stay in touch with the Institute by signing up for our newsletter or coming to Drop-In Hours in DUC 150.
What should I do if I don’t have a UPass?
You are more than welcome to sign up for an excursion that uses public transportation if you don’t have a UPass, but you must let us know ahead of time. Upon signing up for the program, please notify the volunteer that you need a Metro or Bus ticket.
How can my friend(s) and I sign up together?
You and your friend(s) can sign up together in Bear's Den if you arrive together or online together. Please note that you may not hold a spot for people who are not present to sign themselves up.
Where can I learn more about the city?
Great question! There are an array of resources for learning about the history of the city and events that are taking place every day that can be found on websites such as ExploreStLouis.com. Additionally, you are more than welcome to stop by drop-in hours at the Gephardt Institute (Tuesdays, 3-5: pm in DUC 150) or sign-up for the Gephardt Institute newsletter to learn about service opportunities in and around the city.
