Reversing Homelessness in STL: Gateway 180 with APO

Description

Gateway 180 is an emergency homeless shelter for women, children, and families, located in downtown St. Louis.  Beyond temporary shelter, the nonprofit provides workshops and resources to actively empower its clients. We’ll take part in a range of projects, from childcare to meal service, engaging directly with clients and learning about the challenges of homelessness in St. Louis. This excursion will give us a taste of how members of Alpha Phi Omega, the co-ed community service fraternity, work with and make an impact in the community during the school year.

This excursion will be available for up to 15 students.

Physical requirements: There will be some walking involved. Participants may be working with meal service, so food allergies may present a problem.

Note: Students participating in this excursion are expected to bring a UPass since the group will take public transit to the excursion site. If this is an issue please notify the Meet St. Louis Coordinator at MeetStLouis@wustl.edu, immediately.
