LGBTQIA+ Activism in St. Louis

Description

The LGBTQIA+ Community has a rich and multifaceted activist history in our city. There are a number of community organizations who advance LGBTQIA+ advocacy in St. Louis and Missouri. We’ll take transportation to the Pride Center of St. Louis. We will meet some of the local activists and organizers in St. Louis from multiple community based organizations like PROMO and Metro Trans Umbrella Group who will provide a brief overview of advocacy and organizing for LGBTQIA+ issues in St. Louis. We will have some time for lunch in the center to connect informally and explore the center more. Additionally students will have a chance to contribute to service and community work that will benefit the Pride Center.

This excursion will be available for up to 20 students.

Physical requirements: None – the building is accessible.
