Biking Through Local Food Movements

Description

We will ride bikes through a variety of St. Louis neighborhoods and parks, which will lead us to the Tower Grove Park farmers market. There, students will have the opportunity to discover local products and hear from the market manager. We will then visit Seed Sprout Spoon, a local catering and event space where we will eat lunch and learn about the neighborhood’s efforts to unify community through local food. On our journey, we’ll also explore community gardens, a local grocery store, and other sustainability efforts. Riding bikes will provide an opportunity to learn more about alternative transportation options and commuting tips, as well!

This excursion will be available for up to 14 students.

Physical requirements: Need to be able to bike a total of 14 miles at a leisurely path (about 10MPH, frequent stops). There will also be walking outside for about 1 hour. We will accommodate food allergies/restrictions.
